Gerardi is an outstanding wrestler who also is even a better kid. Pretty sure he doesn't have to worry about not cracking a line up. Undersized? maybe but not enough for it to matter as far as being successful. Maybe with where his birthday lies, it makes sense so that he is not a really young freshman. Whether or not he gets held back, what is the difference of him and a post grad or reclass? He isn't the first to be held back or the last. His parents, like any are doing what they feel is best for their son. Finally, if he wasn'y such a hard working and established wrestler, it is a moot point but because he is so established and notable, we want to focus on him competing at Super 32 4 times in the middle school division? Get over it. The kid is a stud and his parents are doing what is best for their son and don't owe anyone an explanation. I'm going to agree and disagree with you on this one. I do not know this young man nor do I know his parents so I cannot speak to those issues. If they feel that is best for their son, so be it. I have no problem with that because it all comes out in the wash and the cream will rise to the top. The part where I respectfully disagree with is where he entered the middle school division a 4th time. By your words he is outstanding, so why continue to compete against middle school kids when he had an opportunity to challenge himself by going in the high school division as an 8th grader. If the goal is to improve and prepare for the next level, that is the smart choice. Again I'm not questioning motives or judging, just making an observation.

Haven't been to this site in a while so just seeing this. Eiwaman, why is the smart choice automatically to wrestle the high school division? If you have a kid who never saw 100 lbs in his life before August this past year, why would you say the smart choice is to wrestle HS division at a tournament like Super 32? If you want to compete at a national level in HS you need to have enough weight on you to do so. Holding back a year gives him the opportunity to grow to the point he can hopefully be competitive at that level. Size matters.
