well said Admin. Smith has 8 losses to PA/NJ opponents this season and 3 to VA kids (2x to Rockman, Yorkdale, & Evans). Note: He just beat Evans last week in the Conf finals. Similar Freshman season last year...lost 16 or more matches but the majority were out of VA. Finished 5th at 132. This said as an example for heavily weighting strength of schedule. Why do we define (rank) kids by their losses? If I lose to 5 state champs or to kids from PA/NJ (I guess the inference is that all PA/NJ kids are better than VA kids) does that mean I should be ranked high? Shouldn't their quality wins be the dominating metric and losses used only as a discriminator? IMO, the only time losses should come into play is to help in determining 2 closely ranked wrestlers who haven't wrestled or beaten common opponents.

Check your Stats on Stone Vs Raines. I believe Stone has the most recent win and total wins vs Raines.

So, back to the whole Rockman being better than Ramey thing. In my opinion, it is pretty hard to crack top 5 overall if you're not cracking top 8 in your classification. Hey, just one mans opinion.

Comments about 5A N 126/126 rankings. Beltran is a beast. He teched/pinned everyone (including in the 2nd period in Finals) but McCord (a semifinal match, should have been the final) and that was a very tight match that he won 2-0. McCord pinned all of his opponents except Beltran in the 1st or 2nd period. I would place Quezada ahead of McCord (he beat him at a dual 1-0 earlier in the season) and is a 4a Champ.

So, back to the whole Rockman being better than Ramey thing. In my opinion, it is pretty hard to crack top 5 overall if you're not cracking top 8 in your classification. Hey, just one mans opinion. There are 6x 6A 132lbrs ranked in both VAWA and USA wrestling rankings (Rockman has beaten ALL of them except Megonigal) while there is only 1x 4A 132lbr (Ramey) in both rankings (no depth 4A 132lbs). At 132lbs, 6A is loaded with more studs minimizing arguments for Ramey being ranked over Rockman or Yorkdale as he hasn't beaten any of the ranked bubbas. Rockman has victories over NJ and PA state placers both at Beast and Manheim. The only commonality Rockman and Ramey had was a defeat by nationally ranked Coy Ozias. Rockman lost to Ozias 10-1, Ramey, while losing 12-1 was subsequently pinned by Ozias. I'd easily give Rockman (and Yorkdale) the nod over Ramey and not sure I'd nod Ramey over Clay Smith, or Jaquan Evans... Lastly, Rockman broke his elbow in the conference finals, he sucked it up, pushed through and competed in Regional semis. His vigor earned him surgery and a cast...

I saw that Josh Dutel 160 lbs. didn't wrestle for 5A and felt for him wrestling on a injured leg at Regionals. Looked really good when I saw him wrestle at the Freedom tournament. At Regional tournament I saw he was really hurting. He was the best 5A wrestler out there - anyone know how bad his leg is? Also Rockman 132 - what happened?

If you update this for the end of the season. 152 Jimmy Woznak beat Joe LaRock 2 out of 3 times. Last one being in the Conference finals. That put him on the same side of the bracket as Tingen for both semi's at regionals and states. Ended up 3rds in both. Beating Hicks for 3-4. Only had 3 losses to any Va wrestler this year. 1 to LaRock and 2 to Tingen. Not too shabby for a James Wood kid
