Since I was NOT there and I have not seen the match my only guess would be he was wrestling a "semi" local kid in Hilday and even though he wrestles for Wyoming Seminary, which is in PA, he's not a PA kid so 1 reason may have been they wanted to local to win. The other reason may have been some felt Hilday was the aggressor during the match. Again I did not see it, but since the score was 2-1 that may have been the case.

Saw the video on Flo. My guess was that it was because of his typical cheap shots. Drove his shoulder into Hayden's head when they were returning to the center. Some pushes outside the circle. Standard Manville bad sportsmanship.

Let's remember that these two have wrestled each other 5 times and they do not necessarily like each other so it is expected that a match between these two would get chippy, if you will.

"Chippy" is what people use to sugar coat when they are referring to "extracurriculars" in wrestling.
We have a combat sport. Physical interaction is allowed and encouraged. The crap Manville has done when he gets all pissy is cheap. It happened in his loss to Hidlay, and it happened again at Powerade. In fact, I would be interested in seeing what Hidlay did to take part in the "chippy."

Three different high schools and this is his 5th year wrestling varsity,Is it worth it? The boy wins. Unfortunately his family behaves poorly, weather its his father getting kicked out of youth events or his younger brother crying for winning but not pinning or getting a tech fall (yes I saw it first hand). The wrestling community is to blame for Masson's behavior, how are you allowed to be varsity for 5 years?? Why do 3 different schools allow this Why. Ill tell you, they only care about winning and not building good young men. VA should be ashamed of the Manville's. If you defend them then you are blind to the "winning is everything" motto. Talented young men should be held to a higher standard.

I'm not making excuses for anyone. What I did do was answer the question. I am not defending anyone. Find the post where I said it was acceptable or ok. I just answered the question.

The Manville do things their way, they do what they think its best for them. Why do you care how many HS he's gone to ? If you're not a fan, that's fine, no need to hate and bad mouth them.

I do not care about the number of high schools, that is up to them. I just do not care for athletes that reflect badly on the sportsmanship aspect of the sport. Considering wrestling is already an extremely physical and tough sport, there is no need to go outside the rules for cheap shots. I have noticed a pattern, at least when he wrestles Hidlay, and I saw nothing that seem to show Hidlay reciprocating. Don't worry, on the next level, it will figure itself out. It is just low-class in my opinion.

Let's be clear, I don't hate them, I don't care what they do as a family, and absolutely not bad mouthing them just stating facts. Unfortunately they represent VA wrestling, dad is on the VAWA board and runs a large club and Mason is a one of the most successful wrestlers in VA. So why care? With the Manville success on the mat people will think there methods/behavior is whe way to be a winner. Please watch the Kolat story, winning at any expense rarely turns out well.

I am pretty sure that Mason's first of five years was as an eighth grader. He went out of Virginia to get the five year opportunity. Blare and Wyoming Seminal seem good programs to help any wrestler get better wrestler. Given conflicts at Blare that caused Mason to leave the program mid-season last year, of course he is going to find another top program to continue to make him better. It's less sportsmanlike for losers to cry foul when there is no fouls. I expect the winners will simply leave them behind in the forgotten past, onward to Penn State in this case.
