106 features the #1 Ranked 106 pounder in Virginia (Wittenberg, Battlefield) and two lower ranked wrestlers (Holzapfel, Stonewall Jackson; and Howell, Robinson). Wittenberg is a strong favorite to win 106 coming out of the top part of the bracket. The bottom side of the bracket should produce two competitive quarterfinal matches: - Oliver (Lake Braddock) vs Lisenby (Westfield) - Zoski (Langley) vs H;lzapfel (Stonewall Jackson)
This competitive set of quarterfinal match will mean that looser of the top-side semifinal will have an extremely competitive match to qualify for the state tournament. Champion: Wittenburg, Battlefield Possible Qualifiers: - Holzapfel, Stonewall Jackson - Howell, Robinson - Lisenby Westfield - Zoski, Langley

120 is one of the more competitive weight classes in the tournament. This bracket has three wrestlers with legitimate shots at the state title, Echeverria (Centreville, reigning state champion at 113), Wiles (Lake Braddock), and Book (Robinson). Another wrestler to watch is Bruno (West Springfield). On the top side of the bracket, Book (Robinson) is positioned well to make the final. Look for a very competitive semifinal match between Echeverria (Centreville) and Wiles (Lake Braddock) on the bottom half of the bracket. The quarterfinal match between Bruno (West Springfield) and Carayiannis (Battlefield, and Conference 8 Champion) is extremely important because the road to states for the looser of this match is through the looser of Echeverria (Centreville) and Wiles (Lake Braddock). Championship Match: Echeverria (Centreville) or Wiles (Lake Braddock) vs Book (Robinson) Possible Qualifiers: ?

At 220 Maile (Osbourn Park) is the only ranked wrestler in the region. Holsworth (West Potomac) has also received some attention in the rankings. At 285 Smith (Madison) is the only wrestler ranked in the region. This might be the most unpredictable weight class in the region. Look for the three other Conference champions to move deep into the bracket (Pullen from Osbourn Park, Lutz from Westfield, and Sergio from Annandale).

That is an impressive amount of work, and it helps "focus" your attention! Thanks for taking the time.
I don't understand your logic in the discussions of 132# & 138#. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers in 6A North should be on the same side at States, and away from the 6A North Champion. I see that giving either an "opportunity" for a rematch in the finals next week. There are some folks down South who will also have something to say about that, of course... One of them is only as far "South" as Stafford.

Bill
The 1 and 3 from regionals are placed on the same side, while 2 and 4 are also on the same side. So its very possible for a region semi to happen again in states due to the positioning. This is the stupid crap that happens when you only have 2 regions and 8 wrestlers in a state tourney.
