In the limited time that I have come to learn about and experience the St. Christopher's program, I believe it is second to none in the state of VA.
In my opinion, the highlights of the program are as follows:
* A nationally accomplished group of coaches who are not only willing, but push to work year round to help the athletes achieve their goals. * A culture that emphasizes hard work, dedication, and effort over wins. * An established track record of success (11 of the last 12 VISAA championships, numerous Prep All-Americans). * A great facility to train and wrestle in. * A caring, family-like community that is both supportive and involved. * Last but not least, a priority on education and character development over everything else.
Are there other "second-to-none", top tier wrestling programs in VA? Sure there is. There are programs (though I believe a relatively short list of them) that will be beat St. Christopher's head-to-head or in a tournament. However, when you combine the coaches, quality of training, emphasis on education/character/work ethic, and overall results – I don’t know if there is a better program available to ambitious wrestlers.

St. Christopher's is a great program. Some of the best coaches in the state, and if you are willing to put in the time and work, they will help you maximize your potential on the big stage. I honestly would not recommend another coaching staff as it pertains to development.

I can attest that the St. Chris program is unbelievable. John Gordon, Ross Gitomer, Rob Prebish - that is an amazing trio in itself. What sometimes is overlooked is the other coaches on staff - Pope, Abbott, and the Erwin brothers. Most I do not know, but a quick look at credentials and it becomes clear - this program may have the best group of coaches in the state.

St. Chris is a 12 time VISAA winner , including 11 titles in a row, but they have finished 2nd the last 3 years.
Changes have come in the form of a new head coach, Ross Gitomer. Ross and Rob Prebish are the cornerstones of an excellent coaching staff. The best part of the school is the balance between athletics and academics. There is no doubt academics comes first, but they do not neglect athletics in the process. I would compare them to Stanford on the collegiate level. They manage to excel in both areas.
You can find private schools that are easier to get in (and some harder), but I do not think you can find a private school with a better combination of academics and athletic achievements.
