Having seen all of these hwts wrestle except for Helm. I would definitely say Repko is the 4th best in the state at 285.

Think you may see the following from Robinson: Mason Rockman @ 126 (a very tough young kid). Will be in the State Tournament. Jack Bass @ 152 again (he was a light 152# last year). Should be #1 @ 152 this year. Zak Despaquale @ 160 again. Will be competing for #1 in the State again this year. Dan Mika @ 170 (he wrestled up to 182# because Robinson had 6 - 170 pounders last year). Will be in the finals at either 170 or 182. Cole Despaquale (will probably be at 182 this year, but may try to pull back to 170). Will be in the finals at either 170 or 182. Belive he should be ranked ahead of Wisman, as Wisman was beaten by Cole's younger brother last year, and Cole took #2 in the States in 2013. Max Sears @ 195 (a Russian kid who wrestle up 20# and was injured 1/2 the year, last year). Could see him the finals at the States.

Can we do this on a team level? Rank the top 15 or so teams regardless of division....

Yes, helm got beat by a lot of wrestlers early in the season. As the season went on he improved tremendously. He pinned a lot of kids who beat him in the bringing of the year. He pinned everyone in the districts and regionals. He then just barely lost to pinkston in the finals by 1 point. Repko got beat by Mathias whom Helm PINNED. Turner never wrestled Helm. Turner did not go to states. AWESOME JOB by Matoaca’s wrestling Coaches to have a 9th grader improve that much in a short period of time. To have him ready to go toe to toe with the best hwt in the state Pinkston and losing to him 5-4. Who knows what would happen to him and pinkston now. Yes he got pinned early a lot when the season first started, but by end of the year, He was second best in the state. He finished 2nd in AAA while Repko placed 5th. What and improvement. Repko did lose to mathias, but DEMOLISHED him in 5th and 6th. Caleb underachieved in states but it is a grind. Look for him this year Apparently Helm improved during the season and had a great finish as a freshman but let's get the facts right with his match with Pinkston. Yes, on paper, Helm "barely" lost to Pinkston by 1 point after receiving a bogus stalling point in the 3rd peroid when neither wrestler were doing anything except pushing on each other. To say Helm wrestled toe to toe with Pinkston is a bit flawed as Helm got lucky. With 17 seconds remaining in the 2nd period, Pinkston shot a single leg but Helm somehow stepped on Pinkston's toe causing him to stumble and Helm got around behind him for the takedown. Seconds later, Helm was on his back and saved by the bell. Pinkston then wrestled conservatively in the 3rd period. To say " who knows what would happen to Helm and Pinkston now", really? Pinkston is a work horse and finds time to get into the wrestling room during the off season while training/playing football. Also, Pinkston is a 2 time: 1st Team All Northern Region and Concorde District and 2nd Team All State Defensive Tackle. Pinkston bench presses 400 lbs and squats around 700 lbs. Pinkston also placed 3rd in the Walsh Ironman in OH in 2012 and 2 time place winner in Beast of the East in DE.

so if pinkston loses, the other guy is lucky. you make your own luck by doing alot of prep work. 1 point is one point when pinkston been killing everyone else. if helm would have won, the history books would not say he's lucky.

I have to agree, I think regardless of the score, Pinkston is the better wrestler by more than a point. With that said, LUCKY's points are well taken, Helm only lost by one point, relative to other wrestlers, including some at the Beast and the Ironman - give the kid his due, he is close.

I see at 138 that you have Poultney ranked above Starner. Starner beat him pretty bad in the regular season. Did not have a chance to meet up at State due to opposite sides of bracket. The only reason Poultney placed higher at States is because he was on the other side of the bracket and had an easier path. I think they only wrestled once in the season. **** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
This is an "old" ranking. Please provide feedback on the latest rankings.
In addition, the latest rankings have Starner at #4 in the state.

Also, the B (bubble) rankings are in no particular order. So a wrestler on the bubble could be #6 or #10.

Why does Curtis Harris keep getting overlooked at 138. It has been mentioned several times on this forms his wins against quality competition, but a someone he beat three times last year, to include a tech fault always gets ranked above him. Can we get some clarification on this please.

Harris is a good wrestler and in my top 10 in the state at 138. I was looking at the 5th spot, it was a toss-up between him, Raines, and Hohman. The bubble wrestlers are not ranked in any particular order right now.

What about Nick Garland (nr) at (120). He has good head to heads with Dalton Henderson, Sean button, Bryan Ramey. I am also sure he beat the Westfield kid during the off season. He was a state qualifier in 2012 and can win against those guys at 120.

May want to consider Nick Fant 220 Hopewell at least as HM. Won Hopewell tournament last weekend. NC transfer where he was ranked #4 pre-season.
