In the 2011-12 Season, Forge had the following:
1st: David Reck
3rd: Connor Mairena, Michael Hayes, Mark Garrity, Quinton Winters.
4th: Bryce Gentry, Zach Martinez.
5th: Tony Neis, JD Stone
7th: Sean Murphy
Honorable Mention: Gary Woods
Personally I so not see anything like that kind of talent on the 2013-14 team. There is no one wrestler on the 2013-14 team so far above the competition like David Reck was. The rest of the group was obviously talented, and went on to prove it in 2012-13 finishing 3rd. I don't see that this year, I see a drop-off. But as previously mentioned, the watered down VA classifications will help them.
In regards to who in 6A besides Robinson could be number 2, Westfield and Battlefield can certainly contend.
Hunziker did hurt them last year, but was Sinnott even going to make it downstate?
Lastly, I am still curious why the Matoaca reference seemed so incredulous to you. Richards is better than the best Forge has to offer, and Gordon is not far behind. They will account for a lot of points quickly.

So I see you have all the answers, and have been in the Forge room all summers to get your facts straight. On that note, we will see what happens.

Agreed. And personally I hope they do well. They have an excellent coaching staff, great program and I know the wrestlers in the room push hard.

Think Matoaca is Class 5 and not Class 6. They are no longer in the picture.

Yes, they are in 5A. I only referenced them earlier to say, without them (and a few select other teams) in 6A, it will make it a little easier for CF to compete for the top spots. I think CF will finish in the top 5 no doubt. My point was that they may be a weaker team than they had been the last two years. If last year's classification system was in place, I would guess they would most likely finish 4th or 5th.

There's only on team in 6a that will b as deep as forge and that's Robinson. Should make for an interesting battle for 1st place.

Only time will tell and I do believe the Forge talent will step it up and surprise alot of the people who have doubt.

Great News Forge has decided to keep their wrestling program. It was touch and go for awhile.
Last night without two likely starters Sinnott and Garza they beat Battlefield 42-19. I believe Battlefield is one of teams the very wise CW Watcher felt would contend with Forge for the 2nd spot in the state behind Robinson.
Actually I probably should apologize to CW Watcher technically he was right Forge is worse. Last year it was 47-12 this year it was 42-19.
This Forge team is certainly not as good as the 4 state championship teams but is comparable to the other teams they have that placed in top 2-4 spots at states over the year. If thats trouble I wish I would find trouble more often.

Forge just beat Matoaca 46-22 Saturday winning 9 of 14 matches and that was without Stone in the CF line up. They also handled Cburg (49-16), Westfield (56-16) and Brentsville (52-15).
CWwatcher when are you getting on here to admit you were wrong about CF being in trouble this year.
Pretty funny when people put a program down and lack the stones to admit they were wrong.

CWwatcher where are you. Neal Richards only beat C. Harris 3-1, not bad in my book.

I'm not going to speak for CWwatcher but I think he was trying to say Forge, while always a top notch program did not seem to have the national firepower as some of their past teams. The same seems to be true with Christiansburg this year too. They're both still great programs and tops in the state.
Sometimes we get so used to teams being "The" school within the state that we sometimes forget and everyone has to rebuild. In past years the other schools were so far behind the curve that a "down" year for someone like Forge would go unnoticed. Now more schools are stepping up to the plate and working hard to reach the Forge, Robinson, Cburg level and this causes some to see the holes in these powerful programs. They're still great programs with great staffs so they'll get through this. With their youth feeder programs already in place they'll be fine.
As for the Richards-Harris score, without actually seeing the match it's hard to say much about it. That 3-1 could be deceptive.
