Westfield should not be in the top 10. They lost so much and their returners are sub-par. They are rebuilding for sure!

Actually, Westfield has 2 returnoing State placers and 4 returning State Qualifiers on this years team. So I am not sure I would so far to say the returners are sub-par.

Where do you think they should rank?
The are led by three fairly strong guys in:
Gabe Ryan Garrett Maged Austin Knies
When you factor in Yorkdale and Aiello, not a bad group. It will be interesting to see where they are mid-season. So with that said, where do I rank them? What do you think?

It has been said that Knies has blown up to be a 220 and he doesn't look solid, more like the doughboy. Gabe Ryan will beat all the kids he is supposed to beat unless the other kids try hard then he will be up against the ropes. Maged will be tough and do well.
Yorkdale is progessing, but we will see if he can have a breakout year, he also has a brother on the team... any word on him and what he is looking like? I don't think he was in the lineup last year. Aiello, well there are two left and the oldest one, well he isn't like the other two that are now gone. The younger one will do some maturing this year and in my opinion be middle of the road 5/6th in the region.
They really will not contest Robinson or Colonial Forge, those boys are always wrestling and doing something, I never see Westfield out competing in tournament so I give the edge to these guys no doubt.
IF a team can match up well with them and keep the "tough guys" from scoring points they will lose more matches than they are used to this year. There are some holes in the lineup where young guys will need to fill in... so we will see. I would place them outside of the top five for sure and then at the end of the season I can say Itold you so.

Hey, I am not a parent of a kid on the team, a coach, or a wrestler. From an outside perspective, Westfield is usually over looked, and usually better than people give them credit for. They have a young and inspired coaching staff who will push the guys to their limits for sure. I can't wait till you can't say I told you so after states.

Cave spring looks like a team who is on a mission, as a parent of a wrestler from another school Cave Spring looks to give Cburg a run at the tile! CS looked good winning the Titan Toughman and after reading the article in the paper yesterday they were without 2 starters. It's a good thing for the rest of the field at the Titan that they didnt have everyone or CS would have blown the tournament out. States is going to be fun I really think CS has a chance to knock the champ off!

Now that States are over it is obvious that Westfield, while not the team of years past, was better than predicted by at least one poster on this forum.
They placed 5th at the 6A State Tournent without Maged, D. Aiello or Knies. J. Aiello managed to get out of the region and place 6th and the "other" Yorkdale, who wasn't in the lineup last year, well he just went out and won a title.
Interesting how there are ao many wrestling "experts" out there prognosticating from a cave. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, perhaps they should be careful of their tone before offering it when they just don't have the supporting information. Afterall, we all know that opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one.
