106 - JJ Laird, EV pinned LeMaster, this past weekend. 113 - Walker and Paul wrestling 120/126, not 113 113 - Lisenby/Buchanan, Green over Wade, Tardiff, Albergo, not likely. Burns, Battlefield beat Lisenby, recently. Tardiff, WG pinned Burns the same day, and Wade beat Tardiff for 3rd, last year at states. See no significant wins for Buchanan or Green. 120 - McCormick has beaten Whitehurst the last 2 years in the state finals.

What is the reasoning behind ranking 2 freshman, Buchanan and Wirth over 7 returning state placers, after only 1 week of wrestling.

LeMaster #5, Laird 4 deep on the "bubble", when Laird just pinned him 5 days ago. Befuddling.

So if you read the FAQ regarding ranking methodology, you will likely find the answer and not be befuddled.

Yes, I have to agree with the other anonymous poster. Please stop writing names down on a website you created for the purpose of writing names down. I can't believe that you don't have everything in perfect order. Back when I did rankings, I did them barefoot in the snow uphill both ways... AND I STILL PICKED ALL OF THE TOP 4 PLACERS IN ORDER BY WEEK 1. Actually, why would you even change your list of wrestlers? If you can't get it right while teams are still in football play-offs you should probably just throw your computer out of the window. You probably even have a real job too. What a joke. Quit your job or you aren't even trying. Then you can start driving to the schools and checking each wrestler's weight. And if you aren't willing to do that in order to give me a free product that is fun to discuss but not worth much on the actual mat, THEN PLEASE DRIVE YOUR CAR THROUGH A WALL!!! You know, on second thought, why don't you just list every wrestler in the state by weight class and title it "PARTICIPATION RIBBONS". Then I won't have to take my kid into his safe space and sing some Adele songs to get him ready for practice after seeing his name in the wrong spot.
Just a suggestion.

To all parents complaining.......if you don't like the rankings on this site then stop visiting the site and start your own free forum with rankings. If you want you can even type in your own rankings right here on this site. I don't know who runs this forum but he/she doesn't get paid for their state ranking opinions on this free website.. You don't have to pay a fee to read or post on this forum so...... Who really cares if it is a "quality product"? I am sure he/she has a job with a family and doesn't have a ton of free time to correct every mistake he/she has made. There is no need for parents to get upset about an anonymous persons opinions. These rankings mean NOTHING and most adults know that. There aren't any college coaches looking at this forum for recruiting purposes, so just relax. The sport of wrestling is dying here in Virginia. The person doing these rankings on their free time is obviously passionate about Virginia high school wrestling and is just trying to promote the sport through ADULT conversations. The parents complaining on here is like a toddler crying over what flavor lollipop they were given by the bank teller! If there is a mistake politely point it out and move on. If you don't like what the administrator of this site has to say then stop clicking on a vawrestlingnews.proboards.com and reading the posts. Where your wrestler is ranked on this forum has ZERO baring on the final results and will not improve or hurt the performance of your wrestler throughout the season. **** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
Agreed.

Thank you Really. You may be one of the few voices of reason in the VA wrestling wilderness! Great advice, "There aren't any college coaches looking at this forum for recruiting purposes, so just relax." "Where your wrestler is ranked on this forum has ZERO baring on the final results and will not improve or hurt the performance of your wrestler throughout the season." **** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****

Okay....let me answer as many questions as I can or care to....
We are roughly into the 2nd week of the season, without knowing from each and every wrestler what weight they plan on going, the most intelligent and accurate guesstimate is to advance everyone one weight class and adjust as it becomes more obvious during the season. Works every year and the best wrestlers typically are at the same weight or the next one up. The caveat is on powerhouse teams where some of the best wrestlers in the state are forced at higher or lower weights by even better wrestlers.
106 is always hard to guess. It is full of freshmen and sophomores, with many freshmen being the best in the state. It will sort itself out both in weight and rankings in a couple weeks. I had people complaining last year that Wittenburg had no reason being in the top 10, only to find out he was #1.
Deleting posts - I am all for intelligent, informative, and mature posts that work to improve the rankings and the site. I have no problem agreeing that in week two into the season, there is a lot of softness in the rankings - I am okay with that. What I will not do is allow space to be wasted by whiny, crying, immature parents or teenagers. If you are going to offer a suggestion, make sure it is productive and mature. I do not have a high tolerance for "cry-baby."
Updates - I try to put out updates regularly based on Track AND the information people provide me on this site. However, to stay somewhat credible, I typically verify to the best of my abilities any user feedback. There are members (not guests) that are rock solid, and I give them the benefit of the doubt when it come to results, typically recording it as soon as they provide it.
Trackwrestling - I keep hearing Trackwrestling salesmen (man) pointing to Track as the end-all be-all, it is not. It IS a great tool to use to do the rankings, however, the roster weights and results are not definitive, it depends on who is updating the results. Not all results are even in Track, unless of course you run your event with them. It is also a mess to wade through and see a team only to click on them to find out there is just an entry, no results.
Other sites - this site is meant for recognition, fun, and discussion. The only goal I have is to rank the top 5 with a soft 5 on the bubble list. The watch list is made up of wrestlers that may potentially make the top 5/bubble, but they are there more so for a matter of convenience to plug them in as necessary. Trying to stay on top of every wrestler that should potentially be on the watch list is not what I am shooting for.
Appreciation - I do appreciate the intelligent, logical, and information-based feedback I receive from the people coming to this site, it makes it much more accurate than one person trying to do it. There are some really great contributors on here, both in the PM's and the posts.
Alternate sites - Anyone that is unhappy or feels like the site and rankings are an offense to them, there are other sites that do rankings in VA, VAWA is one. Head over there and enjoy what they have to offer.
Thank you, Admin

You have the little fireball Web Bentley listed at 126. Trackwrestling showed him wrestling a match against Marshall at 138; I expect they had him and his brother Cam mixed up since they had Cam wrestling at 132 and he's bigger than his little bro. I expect Web will finish out at 132 this year, but my crystal ball is a little cloudy...

No kidding! Good question on Matt Laird and something for me to look at. I am in the process of reviewing placements and body of work. I am going to put out some adjustments tonight.

Based on your ranking criteria, how is Cole McCormick ranked above LeMaster, Wade, and Sweeney. I'm pretty sure he hasn't even wrestled 1 HS match, yet.
Also, based on your ranking criteria how is Buchannan/Green and Werth ranked above Lausten, Tardiff, Albergo, Neighbors, Jost, and Tinsley?
