120 - Woody is wrestling 126, Phillips is wrestling 132, but I heard he will cut to 126, New is wrestling 126
126 - Lody and Crumbliss both outplaced at states and beat Shockey in all matches, last year.

Wow, lots of activity today. Looks like the admin has been busy, good job. My two cents for the day, I see there has been lots of talk about JJ Laird, I haven't seen him wrestle, but hear he is a stud, looks like he's getting it done on the mat. No need to put his mother down on this forum unless you have concrete proof it's her posting, and if it is her, she brings up very valid points. I.E. recent head to head wins.
I think 113 still needs a little work, personally, I think Braswell will beat Wittenberg, I guess time will tell. I think the bottom needs a little work, I'm ok with Green being in the mix, as he beat Lausten, at states, last year, but Tardiff, Albergo, and Jost, should be above Buchanan and Werth, at least for now based on this sites published ranking criteria. I left out Neighbors because he didn't compete in the post season, last year. Not sure what that was all about, though.
I think 120 looks good other than maybe moving New and Phillips, up to 126.
I think 126 looks good, but personally, my money is on Gerardi being number 1.

Laird may very well be that good, hence why he was in the rankings. After reviewing some of the pre-season meets, he did indeed deserve more notice. I just have 0 tolerance for snarky, trolling, whiny posters. All I need is their view, supported by facts, and some of their personal observations.

There are some very talented Freshmen wrestlers that are missing from the board. Had the opportunity to watch many of them this past season. JJ LAIRD is as good as advertised. Several MS Championships, NHSCA AA, wrestled for VAWA at NHSCA Duals. All he does is win. Will be tough to beat at 106 lbs. EVAN BUCHANAN has won MS Championships,10-0 @ Holiday Duals. 4th@ Journeymen, 2 x NHSCA AA, 2016 MS NHSCA Duals 8-0. 3rd 113 HS I64 & Won VB Nationals HS 113. Took out 3 seniors last weekend, all three on the board. SAM FISHER has won MS Championships, Undefeated at ACWA Duals, Tyrant Duals, FS/GR State Champ. 4th in Fall Qualifier. Epic Hair! ANDY ALDRIDGE has won MS Championships, Super 32, Dixie Nationals, Undefeated at Tyrant Duals, 2nd at HS I64, Won 160 VB Nationals and 2nd 170 VB Nationals. Sam and Andy are not on the board and should be. All these Freshmen have a body of work and have accomplished enough in PreSeason and one week into the regular season to be ranked. They all have beat upper class men currently on the list. So you may not like that Laird and Buchanan are ranked, but their records support it. The same can be said of Sam and Andy. I expect you will see there names a lot of the next four years.

Great example of factual information via results and observation. Thank you for your validation and I will look into the other freshmen you mentioned.

Not sure if you care for updates on your watch list or not, but in case you do --- Evan Jablonski listed at 138 is going 145 Salem 5a
**** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
Thank you! And yes, I do care. I won't invest a lot of time ranking them, but I want to include as many as I can. I am going back now and adding placers and qualifiers.

Malik Sallah Cave Spring is at 160. Kade Sanders New Kent beat Andrew Anthony Lee Davis 5-0 at Trojan Duals Saturday and pinned Chris Ferril at Va Duals last year Caden Darber 138 is at New Kent. Reece Recabo Spotslvania 170 should probably be on watch list. Ronnie Williams Mountain View was impressive at Trojan Duals.

If you need more 195'ers. Might want to look at 195 - Sean Yochum green run - he placed second last year in 5a as a freshman
Also noticed that Grammes from McLean wrestled at 152 this weekend at the NOVA wrestling classic (ranked here at 145) - he won his finals match vs Ron Miller. Thanks

Your criteria states: Rankings are based on the following, in order of priority: Head-to-Head results (most recent first) Laird pinned LeMaster in a head to head match 5 days ago. Please move Laird above Lemaster before Mrs. Laird has a heart attack. On a separate and unrelated note, why is 152 Laird (who has never won a State title) ranked above State Champ Giantonio? **** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
No kidding! Good question on Matt Laird and something for me to look at. I am in the process of reviewing placements and body of work. I am going to put out some adjustments tonight.

Laird is 4A. Isn't Giantonio just a 3A wrestler. His team will be lucky to remain in the top 5 this year ... in 3A. (discuss. lol)

Nice showing by 2 of Clarke County wrestlers at the Beast of the East in Delaware. My cousin Bryan Wallace ended up taking a 4th at 220lb. Ran into Jeff Allen in the Qtrs and lost 10-2 .Lost 6-3 to the 3rd overall seed for 4th place when he got caught in a headlock while up 3-1 with less than 10 seconds to go. Ended up 5-2 overall on the weekend . Bayne Gordon went 3-2 in a stacked weight class 132. Both kids definitely did VA proud. Beast of the East is one heck of a tournament. Looking forward to end of December seeing both of them compete at the Trojan War in Chambersburg PA. Thanks for the rankings . I appreciate the time you take to do the rankings. Helps us out of state people know who to look for in tournaments.
