Recommend it - why or why not? Give us the good, the bad, and the ugly.

My son has gone to a clinic and a practice or two. Good facility and they keep a hard and heavy pace. The two times he went to practice there was not a lot of HS kids there and only two around his weight class. Cost is reasonable and thery have a proven record of successful kids having gone through the program.

I just started taking my 5th grader. Powerhouse does an excellent job of scaling from four year olds with no experience to high school seniors with lots of experience. Even the reverse: 3rd graders who are really advanced to older kids who are just starting. Coach Tom knows how to push hard while also filling up their tanks with positive comments.

I had been searching for a sport that my 5 year old blind son could participate in and be succesful. I spoke with the head coach Tom at Powerhouse and he began training my son. This is no exaggeration but Power House has changed my son's life. We have noticed he has become more social with others and his personality is more vibrant now since he started at Power House. He is proud to be a wrestler and to be part of a team. The instruction and encouragement he is getting from the coaches and team mates has helped him develop around his disability. Powerhouse is a good facility and is run by a very knoledgeable and professional staff. glad to be part of the team.
**** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
Wow, that is a powerful testimony for Powerhouse. Glad to hear it.

My son wrestled for another team for two years. In those two years he only won two matches. Coming from a wrestling family I understand sometimes you have to take your lumps in the beginning. Right after his second season we seen his head coach at walmart. He began circling him like a shark wanting to get noticed and talk to him but he had no clue who my son was. He was crushed and wanted to quit wrestling. I stumbled on the powerhouse website and told him that another wrestling team was local and asked him to try them for one year and make a decision and he agreed. That first year he went undefeated except one overtime loss in the league he was wrestling in the year before. He stepped up in level and finished third in every tournament he entered against advanced wrestlers finishing with a record of 45-10 for the season. He was in love with wrestling and knew what it felt like to be part of a team. I am forever thankfull for Tommy and what he has shown my son. In his fourth year at Powerhouse now and he has become a state champion and a multiple national placer.

My son has been wrestling for Powerhouse for almost 4 full years. And ever since he's started wrestling at Powerhouse he doesn't want to do anything else. The technique that my son has learned from Tom and the rest of the coaching staff at Powerhouse is second to none. Due to Tom's training my son has become a state champion and has placed in multiple national championships. But even with all of the accolades my son has received so far in his young wrestling career, what he really enjoys the most about Powerhouse is the family environment, camaraderie, and friendships that he's developed.
One thing about Tom is that not only does he have a passion for wrestling (like many in the wrestling community), but he really has a passion for Virginia wrestling. Overall Tom wants to see Virginia get better. And I believe he's trying to do his part to help that effort. Not only with the wrestlers that he produces, but with other wrestlers from other programs that come to receive Powerhouse training throughout the state.
If you’re looking for a program where the head coach and his staff genuinely cares about every wrestler that comes through their doors, where every wrestler gets the same attention, where every wrestler is taught how to wrestle, Powerhouse is your one stop shop for wrestling instruction, technique demonstrations, conditioning, drilling, and mental preparation. All valuable assets if you want to be a successful wrestler.

Powerhouse Wrestling Academy is a great place to begin your wrestling career or if your already an experienced wrestler it's a great place to get pushed with great instructions from Coaches that really care if your getting better.
Powerhouse helped me a lot in my prepartion for College wrestling and I'll be back there again all summer with Coach DeBerry pushing and getting better and helping others reach their goals.
Coach Kibler is a great guy who is very passionate about wrestling and gives great instruction on techinque and will really help you improve as a wrestler.

Powerhouse hands down is a great program. I was at another club before taking my three boys to Powerhouse, the problem with most clubs in the area are ..once the season ends so does the training. This isn't the case at Powerhouse, there were plenty of days that I would have my boys there and they were the only ones in the gym except for Tommy's son. I can say that within 2 years with Tommy, all of my kids were leaps and bounds ahead of where they were. It's a tough fast paced enviroment, but, it produces pound for pound some of the best wrestlers in the area and the state at the youth level. My oldest started wrestling late, he needed the extra time and without Powerhouse and Tommy i have no doubt that he would not be where he's at today.

I started wrestling the summer after 6th grade. I am currently a freshman In highschool. In that short amount of time I have become a good wrestler because of the time and dedication coach Kibler put into makeing me and everyone else at Powerhouse a champion. Without Powerhouse I would not be the wrestler I am today. This is why after my highschool season I will return to Powerhouse to train and get better for the seasons to come. Powerhouse is a great program and I am proud and honored to be apart of the Powerhouse family.

Power house is the real deal. The staff at powerhouse is dedicated and professional. I can not recomend this club higher, they care about the kids and take competition to another level. My son is 9 years old and he plays soccer and baseball and none of these sports come close to the physical or mental expectations of wrestling. The coaches at powerhouse push your kids but are reasonable in regards to the kids ability and skill level. This club puts an expectation that your kids will live up to.........See you at powerhouse.

My son has been attending powerhouse for 3 months. He really enjoys his teammates and coaches. The coaches put alot of time and effort into the kids, and get big results.

My son has been with Powerhouse for about 5 years now. He stated wrestling with another club, but after 1 year we decided to leave and we joined Powerhouse. Moving to Powerhouse has had a huge impact on him. Not only has he excelled at wrestling, but he has grown as a person. Being a part of Powerhouse has helped learn invaluable life lessons, such as humility, leadership, sportsmanship, and loyalty. Most importantly, he has learned that nothing comes easy in life and you really have to put in the time, effort, and dedication to succeed. I think Powerhouse Wrestling Academy teaches more than just wrestling. They teach life long lessons.

my son started wrestling in the second grade , at hylton boys and girls club, they did a wonderful job but we decided to move to stafford, there we joined the stafford highlanders, they to did a wonderful job. while at the highlanders i met tom kibbler for the first time. i loved his coaching style, but more importantly my son liked his style. tom left highlanders and started powerhouse , a year round club.it was a wonderful experience as well. they wrestle year round and go to all the big tourney's. my son is in high school wrestling for colonial forge. if you want to wrestle at the highest level, then powerhouse, and colonial forge are the programs i would recommend.

My son went there for their Elite practice (Tues and Thurs.), and it was quite impressive. They went over more advanced techniques, the coaches (Bam and Tom) helped critique and tweak where needed, and the quality of wrestlers in the room was good. This all amounted to good instruction and tough live wrestling. If you can afford it, I would recommend it.
As a side note, the organization and administration is very solid as well - email updates, quick responses, etc.

Used to attend practices at Powerhouse, really thought they were good, hard practices. Will not go back because of all of the Forge and Mountainview bashing by Coach Tom
