CW District has such great wrestling tradition going back years.Dang shame to see the last CW tournament ever run so poorly. Late start times for rounds, breaks when already behind schedule, then the breaks running over what time was alloted, not using a free mat for consi-matches, finals on two mats because all the time wasted earlier in day. Way to take away from kids that earned a trip to the finals. Also we could do without the constant announcement about concession stands-people know about it because they were stuck there all day. And don't get me started about the repeated brown nosing of Powerhouse over the announcements.

here's my complaint, i think they should have had all the wrestlers in the finals lineup across from each other, then call the the wrestlers out by weight class ,they meet in center of mat shake hands ,then go back to their side of the mat. again, thats just my opinion. no big deal, overall good job

I agree with Murphslaw on the finals. The wrestlers deserve the recognition, and it gets the crowd pumped up.

I quite agree. I can see no reason for this tournament being so far behind that the wrestler's were not given thier due and that the fans were not able to watch each match. I realize that this a Forge problem but, having a wrestler on each mat for the majority of the finals made it quite difficult to watch our boys wrestle. I would encourage the powers that be to seek out guidance on running an efficient, timely tournament. There are many coaches in the district who have the reputation of running things on time making for a much better experience for all. BTW...happy fans buy more food, grumpy fans sit in the stands and complain.
Good luck to all the CW boys this weekend!

The 15-20 minute breaks between rounds could have been skipped. Yes the intros were less than spectacular. But its over and time to move on. It takes a LOT of people to run a tournament and other than falling behind and doubling up the finals matches, things went smooth enough. Hats off to the folks at Stafford High for hosting this event.
Perhaps at regions, if it falls behind schedule, Foley and company will eliminate the breaks between rounds to expedite and get caught up. Forge is always on time because Swink makes these adjustments.

Another perspective:
On the chance that just one fifth place (alternate) wrestler who had to wrestle 4to5 matches on the day might get a call this week that he will be able to wrestle this weekend after all - his getting the required 45 minute break between matches (VHSL post season rule) was probably worth it... 45 minutes between your 4th and 5th match seems reasonable, given the alternative of only giving someone 15-20 minutes between what might be the last matches of his HS career with the chance of moving on to Regionals on the line could be devastating...
Thank you Stafford volunteers and coaches for being great hosts...

Every year, every other school that has hosted this tournament has managed to get the mandatory rest time between the consi-semis and 5th place matches. Nobody else ran more than an hour and half behind schedule or had to have finals on two mats. Inexcusable to have a mat sitting free when you are behind schedule.

your all nuts! That was the worst run tournament I have been to in a long time. Stafford High school should be a shame of them-selves. The man on the Microphone drove everyone nuts about the food every 20 minutes, we heard you the first 50 times! Power House we get it that is Stafford's club. No problem, but, when you keep saying the names of the Stafford kids that win and not anyone else that is way uncalled for! This is Districts not home field tournament. 11.5 hours to run a 9 team tournament is just crazy!!!! Organization skills - where were they? To top it off, the championships that were held was just flat out wrong for all those seniors I'm sorry that the Championship round wasn't done in a professional way. 2 matches at the same time and the wrestlers not getting a chance to line up and stay on the Mat to shake everyone's hand was just wrong. Thank you Stafford for messing the seniors year up for all that hard work, you took it away from the kids!!! Shame on you!!!!!

Asked a couple Seniors their opinions: When asked about delay impact/blame: "did't bother me; don't think it was anyone's fault - really no big deal." When asked about introductions for finals: "That's how they do it at States isn't it?" - yes that is correct... When asked if they noticed anything unusual about the award stand: "to be honest, I didn't even notice..."
So it would seem that the wrestlers who were introduced for finals were content that having their brag sheets read and individually introduced as they do in States was more then sufficient... Having two mats run at the same time, was an unfortunate attempt at speeding things up... unfortunate catch22 at that point... Given the circumstances, ensuring the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th place wrestlers all recieved their allotted 45 minute rest before the potential last match of their HS careers was more important than having a single finals match... Yes it is unfortunate, but it was the right thing to do given the circumstances... It is very likely that the coaches meeting held prior to the finals afforded anyone of them the opportunity to object to the proposal to run two mats... seems like is was collectively agreed upon ...

Keep drinking the Stafford and Powerhouse cool aid and pretending all was well with how the event was run.
That tournament was a disaster. It should not take that long to run a 9 team tournament that did not even have full brackets in all weights. Other programs have run it without those kind of delays.
They had to cheap out at the end because they did not budget their time right throughout the day. You keep saying that "given the circumstances." That is the problem and what people are mad about.... those circumstances should not have existed. Those circumstances (being way way behind) are what were the problem that the led to two mats.
Of course most of the coaches agreed to two mats when you are way behind schedule and people want to go home. They picked the lesser of two evils.

Appreciative CW Wrestlers - like I said your nuts!!!!! You must be talking to Stafford Seniors that didn't get on the podium. Talk to North Stafford, Forge, Brooke Point and Mountain View and I know everyone will dissagree. You all blew it and now we need to move on!!!!
