Coty Amos at 220 - I admit I haven't been to tournaments in the east this year - but this kid could easily be at 195 instead of 220. So he is giving size and weight and has been impressive so far this year.

Did the pot kid wrestle ANY NATIONALLY RANKED kid and won? There are several unbeaten kids in Va that wrestled a soft schedule. Thomas Dale's 145 pounder senior has only lost once his entire career.

It all depends on how far into the deep end you go. All of the kids on the list a great wrestlers and most have competed in national level events and yes, suffered a few losses there. As gold pointed out Corey Leonard only has one loss in HS but hasn't been at the bigger nat'l tournaments like the others listed. Nic Campbell of Strasburg is a good example, I think he only had one loss in HS entering this year. Strasburg entered some bigger out of state tournaments this year and I heard his record announced with 8 career losses at a recent tournament. Tough to determine best pound for pound when everybody is using a different measuring stick. For my money I'd give it to Wisman by whisker over several others. All great wrestlers who should make VA proud at the next level.

Yeah, I mean at this level you have to take in account who the competition has been. W-L by itself is not nearly has important as who the wins or losses were against.
I don't think anyone in-state has beaten the kids on this list AND they have beaten top talent nationally.

Gold you are correct about the soft schedule for Corey Leonard but he could have been competitive at any of the big tournaments. It is unfortunate that his team doesn't provide him the schedule some of the other state teams do but not his fault. I would agree though when considering your vote that you do look at strength of schedule not only record.

Amos could be at 195, but would first have to lose 15 pounds then wrestle off the current CS #1 VA ranked 195 pounder. 195 pounder was 4th in State last year. Current 195 pounder is only weighing 185.

You can't say Prata needs to be on here if he lost to another kid from Virginia, granted he has many many many accomplishments and is definitely at the top of the food chain, but if you aren't number 1 at your weight How can you be the best pound for pound?

I would agree. While the 1-0 loss to Echeverria is not a big deal, and Prata's body of work is much bigger than many of the wrestler on here - the loss to someone in-state makes it tough.

This is a tough one because the top guys are incredibly close. If I had to list them I'd most likely have my top 5 as follows:
1. Wisman 1a Grayson 3. Love 4. Richards 5. LaPrade
