Administration
Great.
Brackets were updated online regularly and they webcast the matches. The pool matches, mats assignments, and announcements were well-done and accurate.
Officiating
Good.
Officiating appeared to be well-done and fair. As in everything, it was not perfect but with this many officials working, to be consistently good on average is no easy task.
The one recommendation I would suggest is that refs crack down harder on illegal moves - slams, illegal "cross faces", pushing, charging at an opponent, and/or any other examples of bad sportsmanship (cursing, taunting). There was an air of state pride very evident by most teams and many times it sometimes led to some questionable behavior. If the refs do not get it under control early, it can become a mess as the match progresses.
Match Flow and Management
Great.
The mats were never empty and the match flow was very good. The refs kept it moving and pushed the wrestles to get set and kept the pace of the match moving. The assigned match times worked well, with many matches getting done early.
Competition
Great.
One of the most competitive events in the U.S. Clubs from all over the country with a long list of nationally ranked wrestlers and state champions taking part. There was no such thing as a "bad" team at this event, just good, very good, great, and the best. This was the place to challenge yourself and your team.
As a side note, hats off to PA wrestling. They were the best of the best, and they have in my opinion, set the bar for the rest of the country in regards to what a state-wide wrestling system should be.
Environment
Great.
The environment was clean, comfortable, seating was close to the action, and plenty of space. Staff was courteous and helpful. Good crowds who were well-behaved.
Cost
Good.
$700 team fee
$15 per day admission fee for spectators
Food
Above average.
Meatball sandwiches, hotdogs, salads, fruit, pizza. A variety of choices. The meatball sandwich was quite good.
Overall
Great.
There really was nothing not to like. They did everything well.
Recommendation
I would recommend it for those teams and individuals that are ready for this level of competition. The level of wrestling is elite on many teams. Even nationally ranked teams should expect that are at some point in the tournament going to face competition unlike anything you have seen all year. These teams are composed in an 'all-star' like fashion in many cases. With that understood, go for it!
