You are right the weights will see lots of movement, but this is a good list. Think you've captured most of the contenders here. You can take Reid Stewart off the list, they have moved to NC. Also, Hunter Dean wrestled 145 at the Skyline qualifier, please take him out of the 120 list.

You should add Jarrett Tardiff to 106...he's barely 100 pounds but is tough. This past weekend at the I64 tournament he beat two kids by a wider margin than Jordan from Powhatan. You can confirm on Trackwrestling.

Victor Echeverria I believe should be in the rankings somewhere. Wrestled 113 this past weekend at i64 duals and also beat Trevor Mello

I have him on my short-list of contenders. I will review the information and his body of work.
I agree. I added him to the list, close match with Beckner and victory over Mello.

How can you possibly rank and untested freshman at 138 over returning state placers? No offense directed at the freshman but really?

I have seen him wrestle on a couple occasions now, both at Midnight Bash and at I64. I believe he is in that grouping. I do however appreciate your point.

If you would have watched the 138 Freshman at The Super 32 qualifier and I64 Duals you would have saw why.

Admin and Wrestling Fan,
Again I am not taking any shots at the Freshman 138. I just know that pre-season wrestling tournament results typically mean very little when it comes to accurately selecting or ranking who will be on the podium come February. Particularly when there are a number of proven state qualifiers/placers who are not accounted for on this list in the adjacent weight classes or within the weight class in question.
In order to have integrity to the rankings pre-season in particular, it is my opinion and experience that the kids who have proven their abilities at the high school level over a season or two will almost always perform better than a freshman unless you are ranking the lower weights 106 or perhaps 113.
**** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
Understood and I appreciate the feedback. I would like to make several points.....
1. This list is meant as an all-class Top 10 list. There are many placers from various classes that are not on the list. They are outstanding wrestlers who will undoubtedly do well this year, and probably place or win it this year. I hope they prove this list wrong and finish at or near the top.
2. Pre-season wrestling tournament results are undoubtedly not a reliable predictor of future state results. With that said, they are not a bad predictor either. And in my experience, the head-to-head match-up results are better than most other pre-season metrics in terms of determining ranking. In addition, this list is not weighted heavily on the pre-season, but rather previous results and other weighted metrics.
3. In regards to freshmen, I don't want to be biased against them either, so I allow for the possibility that they may be the next 4 time placer or more. In the case of Levi Lough, I evaluated the following:
Midnight Bash I64 Fall Qualifier
You may be right, he is on the bubble of my list, and I may very well be wrong.
4. Please do suggest some other wrestlers and the reason why they should be considered for the top 10. Previous results, head-to-head, etc. would be appreciated.
5. Thanks for standing behind your point. Constructive criticism and debate are going to be the best way for this site and list to be the best it can. You may very well be right and have given me some food for thought.
Thank you, Admin
