Marshall Keller will he should be the top ranked guy @120. Don't sleep on Gage Levine @132 and Josh Linkous @113.

You may very well be right. If it was in-season and a 2-2-2 match, I might likely put him there.

Brown beat Garofalo 8-2 at the AWC duals. He also wrestled up at 126 and 120 at the I64 duals and beat the 126 individual champ Tucker 8-2 . lost to Ariola 4-2.

Mello recently beat Garofalo and Gordon, lost a close match to Gerardi (3-1). Agree that Echevarria should be on list, but so should Mello

Admin,
I appreciate your comments and in now way want to imply that your list is not well researched or compiled in a cavalier manner. While I have not taken the time to conduct the in depth study of those who remain off your list, one wrestler who does immediately come to mind is Ryan Yorkdale , senior Westfield who will probably wrestle 138 this year. He is s 2x State Qualifier, who placed 7th at 6 A States last year. Not a great tournament for him, but he came back to easily win VAC Super States. He defeated Riggs in the Concorde Finals, the record will reflect a Medical Default, but he was dominating the match when Riggs defaulted. He wrestled to 1 pt losses to Hunter Manley and Michael Hulcher last season at NOVA Classic, and John Champe respectively. He also handily defeated Steven Midkiff the 5A 138 runner last season at NHSCA Nationals wrestling up a weight class.
Again, I am not trying to disrespect the freshman 138, I wish him all the best in HS career, but it is hard to understand why a wrestler with the above resume would not be on the list. FYI - Ryan Yorkdale did not wrestle the off-season due to a serious injury sustained (broken arm I believe) while wrestling against Colin Saunders, 6A 145 lbs Champion, at NHSCA Nat Duals. The score was 0-0 in the third and the injury occurred while executing an escape to gain a 1-0 lead.

Admin,
Another wrestler for consideration might be Clay Smith from Colonial Forge, placed 5th at 6A States last year. Don't have as many particulars about him but another wrestler who, in my opinion has proven himself at the HS level given the schedule Forge wrestles each year.

He is on my short-list of people to keep an eye on.

It may be premature to add Jared Tardif (Woodgrove) to the 106 list, but he did do better against 4 of the 5 wrestlers that he and Jordan (Powhatan) wrestled, even beating one of the kids that Jordan lost to. He's definitely a kid to watch, especially since he just broke the 100 pound mark. When he gets to 110 or more and cuts to 106 he'll be even tougher.

Thanks for the feedback. I will look into it.

I can't believe you don't have my son RANKED!!! He beat a kid last year over the summer (while bumping up a weight class) who beat a RANKED kid in an overtime match on a penalty point. Then another kid also beat another RANKED kid over the summer who was RANKED above him. Sooooo that means my son would beat those two RANKED kids since the two other kids beat the kids you have RANKED. Not to mention my son works harder than some of the RANKED kids and only loses by 1 or 2 points max. He would have beaten them on ANY OTHER day. He was nursing a hang nail and broken eye lash. I've seen these RANKED kids lose by 4 or 5 points to other kids RANKED higher. Also, my son doesn't cut weight so that should be added bonus points to get RANKED. Don't even get me started about the classes. My son beat a kid who beat a single A STATE CHAMP 3 years ago. So he definitely would be a single A state champ. It's just common sense. So please RANK my son because if I see his name in these RANKINGS it will make me feel better. Did I mention that I know a guy who met a guy that met Cael Sanderson? It was awesome!!!

These rankings are meant to list the top 10 wrestlers at every weight class in Virginia, in all classes, public and private. Your input is key to this list being as accurate as possible, so give me your recommendations. In doing so, please submit the following pieces of information: 1. Wrestlers you feel should be on the list 2. Who they would replace 3. Why they should replace the wrestlers ranked ahead of them Criteria that will be evaluated when placing wrestlers are: Recent head-to-head results Historical head-to-head Record against common opponents State results National results

Your sarcasm, while somewhat humorous, shows your lack of class. The admin can't be expected to keep track of every match, of every weight class, of every tournament. It is why, I suspect, he started the thread so that parents, wrestlers, and coaches can help with the process. If parents, wrestlers, and coaches didn't post then how would you suggest a better way for updates to the list? **** Noted, adjusted, appreciated.****
I do appreciate everyone's feedback and constructive criticism. The rankings will be most accurate if people do make arguments for their kid or others based on relevant criteria. Some of the criteria is listed below:
1. Head-to-head results (most recent first) 2. Common opponent results 3. National, state, and local accomplishments (ex. tournament finishes) 4. Member feedback 5. W - L
Each of the criteria above are considered in relation to the weight and division they were accomplished in. In addition, consideration is given for injuries, wins by default, and "bad days."

I do appreciate all the feedback I can get from athlete, parent, and/or coaches. I prefer it be posted openly so others can respond or make counterpoints, but I am open to private messages. I have received both, and I have made adjustments from arguments that were based on the ranking criteria I listed. I cannot possibly keep tabs on every wrestler and every result, so help is much needed. I can tell you that I have a short-list in each weight class that includes at least 5 or 6 kids at every weight that are right on the fringe.
